What is The Youth Program?
Natural environment forms the basis of sustainable development. The Youth Program under the SATO YAMA UMI Project aims to build capacity of youth in modern society that is dependent on natural resources of developing countries, so that they can become future leaders in environmental issues. First, under the internship scholarship, participating youth deepen understanding of environmental issues through directly experiencing the field activities under the field projects of the SATO YAMA UMI Project. The interns are sent to Cambodia, Indonesia, Samoa and New Caledonia. Second, the “Environmental Leadership Course” provides wider audience of youth with practical understanding about natural environment though series of lectures, workshops and an excursion.
